Back by popular demand! During the 6 week series, these young yogis will be encouraged to use their creativity to put together traditional yoga postures, ultimately making their own yoga flow sequence. For those kiddos who have participated in the past, the content has changed to keep them growing in their yoga practice!
Kids will have an opportunity to connect with their breath, communicate with others in class, and develop tools to encourage self-confidence and emotional balance.
Class will meet on Sunday evenings, and the curriculum for this session is below.
Week 1: Yoga Fundamentals: Students will get to know each other and flow through a variety of twists, backbends, inversions and balancing postures.
Week 2: Breath & Stories: Students will learn various breath techniques to either calm or energize the body, as well as learn the different stories attributed to each yoga posture. Students will have the opportunity to start writing their own yoga story, to be shared in weeks 5 and 6.
Week 3: Mudras & Meditation: Students will learn several mudras (yoga hand gestures), as well as the benefits of meditation and how to incorporate these tools in daily life.
Week 4: Yoga Stations: We will incorporate the first three weeks of class with an fun, interactive class designed around stations. Each station will have a different set of exercises or breath/meditation techniques to practice.
Week 5: DIY Yoga Practice: Students will have the opportunity to create their own mini-class, filled with favorite postures, breath techniques, as well as making their own playlist. They will practice teach to the group, practicing public speaking and building confidence.
Week 6: Family Partner Yoga and Graduation: Parents are welcome to attend the last class of the session for a family yoga class, where the kids will have an opportunity to share what they have learned by teaching a portion of the class.
